I started my next story the other day. I took out my paper, picked out my paint colors and was ready to get after it. But it didn’t feel right. I couldn’t get in the groove to paint my bears…something was off. I re-read my story, stepped away, came back, and it hit me. I wasn’t passionate about my story and my words. So I started over. Sure I had spent time creating this sweet story and initially was super pumped, but it faded and I knew I had to put it aside when I couldn’t take my words and express them on paper with paints. It is my belief that if something doesn’t feel right, then it’s not right.
So I started over…I re-wrote my story, and just let the words flow out like a waterfall. And wouldn’t you know it that when I was done writing and started illustrating it was like two pieces of a puzzle clicked together. The colors for illustrations, the details to make my words come alive, all racing out my mind. Now I can’t keep up with the creativity that is flowing from me to visually tell my next book. So I’m excited and can’t wait to share what is brewing inside my heart and my mind. Until then, happy writing, happy reading, and happy painting. And remember, when something feels right, it’s right. Your heart always knows 💙
