I’m riding a really-kinda-cool feeling right about now, which has inspired me to jot a few words down, because that is what I do, of course. Today is a great day, as I am attending my first Expo. Not quite the book fair experience as there are not many book fairs at this time, but the childrens Expo has proven to be just as awesome.
So what brings me to my jotting down of a few words is this is totally awesome. I had no idea what to expect, if people and children would like my work, if they would feel a connection to my illustrations and words, but they do. What a feeling to have a child want “If You Were A Giraffe” because their room and bathroom is decorated in giraffes. Or “Let’s Go to Mars” because they love rockets. What a feeling to be asked to sign my books that have been purchased. I didn’t write books or illustrate to make money, or become popular. I became an author and illustrator because it feels good to make others feel good, and feel-good children’s books is where good feelings start from. Say that fives time fast š
I’m sure everyone has been told to do what they’re afraid of, to face your fears, to take the leap of faith. I did today. And that is why, sitting at this awesome Expo, I am riding a really-kinda-cool feeling. Don’t wait for something to happen to you, make it happen yourself. Now if I can just get my number one fan to smile…
