We keep seeing these posts about “then” and “now” and so when I went to drop my books off at the little free library at a local park, my husband insisted on taking some pictures so I can have my “then”.
But upon thinking about it some more, really your “then” is your “now”. We never are promised tomorrow, and living in these important moments of now is so important. We constantly push to succeed, whatever our definition of success is; but if we don’t stop and really truly smell the roses on our way, then we won’t truly feel the success we worked so hard for.
I do hope one day I will have a now where I’ve written and illustrated lots and lots of books, but for right now, I am really enjoying these special, exciting days of sharing my feelings and visions with the world, if it just a handful of books at the little free library. What is really special about this picture is when it was taken, it seemed like Heaven, and perhaps my loved ones, were shining down on me and smiling while I placed my first published books in the little free library.
