The Secret Life of Golf Balls was inspired by my husband who stumbled into the game of golf at a young age. The reason I say stumbled is because at the time he was playing baseball and had been struck very hard in the face, fracturing his orbit. Being afraid to play baseball again, and living next to a golf course, he started walking the course after hours and collecting golf balls that had been lost and forgotten. He worked at the golf shop and pursued the game of golf, all because that one day he decided to start playing on the golf course and collecting the balls.
Golf was always intimidating to me; being male dominated, expensive, and dependent on weather. But meeting my husband and seeing the other side to golf (such as plenty of women playing and competing in the game of golf and coming up with fun ways to make golf less expensive and affordable) gave me a different outlook on golf.
The Secret Life of Golf Balls is a silly story that tells the golf balls side to a day of golf, and the day in and day out work of a golf ball, with a cute ending. A feel good sports book good for all ages!
