Have you ever noticed the moon coming up, and the sun going to sleep? This was first brought to my attention when I was driving in the car with my 3 year old son, Grayson. He said, “Mama, the moon is following us.”
My response was yes, the moon is coming up, and the sun is going to sleep. And so every time we would see the moon coming up and the sun going down, we would talk about them switching off; the moon taking over, lighting the way for all at night, and the sun going to sleep. And how every day is a new day, because the sun will always rise after a long night of rest.
Good Morning Moon, Good Night Sun gives a feeling of calmness, with a gentle ending to help little ones drift off to sleep (and myself as well!).

“Good morning Moon!” says Sun.
“Hello Sun!” says Moon.
The moon is coming up, the sun is going to sleep.
The fishies are swimming home for their supper.
The forests are settling down.
Mommies and daddies are home from being out, because now the moon is coming around.”
Good night sleeping children, the sun will be back out soon.
Until then, sweet dreams, rest your sweet little eyes, for tomorrow is another day and the sun will once again rise.”
